Carrots will grow in any open, well-cultivated, deep garden soil.

The roots are almost perfectly cylindrical at about 6-7in/15-18cm long. It is reddish-orange, with tender skin and a very sweet taste. Rich in food value, it is an all-purpose variety that stores well and can be used in all stages. Great for canning or storing.

As seed is so small, mix with some sand when sowing. Keep the seedbed evenly moist during the 3-week germination period. Thin seedlings. Harvest any time after the carrot roots develop good colour. Succession plantings can be made every 2-3 weeks.
