Elegant, tall slender plants produce masses of 5-6in/13-15cm gold, rich yellow, deep bronze and bicolour blossoms, some of which are semidoubles. Easy-to-grow plants require minimal care and are useful for temporary screens, hedges and backgrounds.

Sunflowers are fast growing annuals and are best direct-seeded where plants are to bloom after frost danger in spring. Choose a sunny position with good drainage. To grow from transplants, start seed indoors three weeks before outdoor planting.
